Company Profile and Vision

Fructose production will change people's habit of using refined sugars

i-Con Food Enterprise Sdn Bhd is a subsidiary of Taiwan Fructose (M) Sdn Bhd. Our company specializes in the production of packing and marketing of fructose and isomalto-aligosaccharides (imo-OLIGO). Research is also favourably ongoing towards the production of good health-based canned drinks, which will be available in the near future.

In developed countries, fructose is widely used in the food and beveage industry as well as domestically, in family homes. It has long been considered, with foundation, a healthier, thereby a better, alternative to refined sugar. In Malaysia, however, refined sugar is still extensively used, as common practise, in the food industry, as in bakeries and food outlets. This fact, combined with the sweet tooth of most Malaysians, has led to a worrying increase in the rate of diabetes in the country, which in time, in all probability, could become a real and huge burden to our national healthcare expenditure.

Taiwan Fructose (M) Sdn Bhd has well over 25 years of experience in the sugar industry in Taiwan. Its products have been well-received in many Asian coutries. In 2006, our company invested RM70 million in Malaysia and quickly amd successfully drew in European, America, Japanese and Taiwanese biotechnology towards facilitating the setting up of our manufacturing plant in Sungkai, Perak. With the production of fructose, imo-OLIGO and maltose locally, we hope to be in a position to meet the needs of the local food industries, including beverage factories, soft drink manufacturers, coffee shops etc. This will certainly enable these industries to draw on the many obvious benefits of fructose and to use it in place of refined sugar.

Our products, available in both family and convenience packs, are available throughout Malaysia. They are readily found in many organic food shops, pharmacies, Chinese medical halls and supermarkets. As fructose is indeed and without doubt a healthier alternative to refined sugar, it is our earnest hope that Malaysians will make the right choice, in choosing and enjoying fructose, sweetness and the very best of health.

Our vision for the future is a very clear and sound one. It is based on our fervent hope that Malaysians will see the beneifts of using our fructose products and take proactive steps in that direction. We strongly believe that, in doing so, in the next 10 to 20 years, Malaysia will see a drop in the rate of incerease of diabetes. By chcking the rate of such increase, Malaysians will thus enjoy healthier and more productive lives, at the same time reducing the burden on our national healthcare expenditure. We invite all Malaysians to share in our vision.
